Developing Play and Social Communication in Young Children with Autism Primary Teachers/SNAs 7.3.2024
This seminar suitable for primary teachers and SNAs is aimed at those working with young children who are non-speaking and pre-speaking and will give ideas and strategies for using naturally occurring opportunities in the day to support and develop emerging communication skills through play and engagement.
We will explore:
• Stages of development in play and language
• The links between play and language
• Strategies for assessing and identifying where your child is at
• Activities and strategies to develop emerging skills.

Facilitator: Marie Byrne is an education professional with over 30 years of experience in the field of education and additional needs. She has wealth of professional and personal experience of loving, living and working with neurodivergent children and adolescents and brings a neuro- psychotherapeutic perspective to her work in the area. Marie is an experienced teacher trainer & advisor and a child and adolescent psychotherapist specialising in play-therapy. She has worked as a special education and Autism advisor to schools and other organisations for many years.
