FIRST LEGO League Challenge Information Session (11-16 years) 18.9.23 (face-to-face in Laois EC)
"FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge for 11-16 year olds (6th Class to TY) is a fun, robotics-based life skills competition for which teams develop an innovative solution to a real-world problem, and build and program an autonomous robot to complete LEGO missions. Throughout the process they develop teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills, to support them in their future careers. In the MASTERPIECE? Challenge for 2023-24, teams will imagine and innovate new ways to create and communicate art across the globe.
This information session for schools will lay out how FIRST LEGO League Challenge operates and how to access the competition locally. Schools who attend will also see LEGO robots in action, and will hear about a scheme run by Laois Education Centre which allows schools from their catchment area to borrow a LEGO SPIKE Prime Kit, which is required to enter FIRST LEGO League Challenge.
The showcase will be facilitated by Learnit, who are the delivery partners for FIRST LEGO League Challenge in Ireland, and work in conjunction with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) to manage funding available to schools to support their participation in the competition."
Facilitators: Gerry Kelly FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge Coordinator & Ross Maguire
