Elena Aguilar writes persuasively about teamwork in schools.
“Teams have great potential for solving hard problems in challenging contexts. They bring together more skills, knowledge and experience to work than any single individual can. They can integrate individual members’ diverse contributions into a creative problem. The challenge is to identify what it takes for teams to maximise their potential” (Aguilar, E. (2016) The Art of Coaching Teams. John Wiley and Sons: CA).
This presentation for primary and post-primary teachers will explore the indicators of effective teams and the roles and responsibilities of those within the group. The importance of establishing a vision and mission for each team, how we can reflect together on progress towards our goals and how we together establish community agreements to achieve unity and purpose will be analysed.

Learning Intentions:
To provide a theoretical framework for working in teams within the school community.
To explore the dynamics of team membership including emotional intelligence and practical management skills.
To develop an awareness of the importance of establishing a vision for our work.

 Facilitator:   Carmel Lillis, Advanced Dip. in Personal Leadership and Executive Coaching, M.Ed, B.A. Carmel has worked as a school principal and as a part-time lecturer on leadership courses in Maynooth University.
