Phonological Awareness 8.11.2021
In this webinar, participants will develop an understanding of the concepts, dispositions and skills needed for success in phonological and phonemic awareness. Participants will be brought on a journey through the developmental continuum for Phonological awareness and its vital role in learning to read. Use of listening games, rhyme and sentence and syllable segmentation will be modelled. Onset and rime is key to this development and this will be explored through the use of riddles and rhymes.

Catherine Gilliland is a Senior Lecturer in Language and Literacy in St Mary's University College, Belfast. She was the Keynote Speaker at the literacy Association of Ireland in 2016 and her work has taken her across Europe to deliver seminars and practical workshops. She was a speaker at the recent World Literacy Summit. She is a regular contributor to the LAI Newsletter and has a chapter published in, 'Playful Approaches to Learning.'
