Coaching is a conversation or series of conversations one person has with another.
What makes these conversations different is the impact the conversation has on the person being coached. An effective coaching conversation influences someone’s understanding, learning, behaviour and progress. Each conversation is characterised by deep listening, equality, reflection and focus on what is being discussed.
This presentation will reflect on how a coaching stance can be transformative when adopted within a school community. It is an essential component of effective professional development as it can go into the intellect, behaviours, practices, beliefs, values and feelings of an educator.
