This webinar for primary and post-primary teachers will explore these related issues and see how we can, as educators live these in our practice.
As educators we face numerous challenges throughout our day. We build resilience as we respond appropriately to these challenges. There is no moment more important for educators to attend to than the one between stimulus and response.
This session will help participants to recognise opportunities to cultivate resilience and in so doing avoid burnout and exhaustion. We can choose how we experience each day. We can learn how to avoid being a victim of ‘the turmoil and unpredictability’ of our world’. (Aguilar, 2018).
Hope allows us to face reality in order to take action to change that reality for the better. Hope is the mind-set that drives resilient behaviour. Through a hope-filled lens we set goals that will lead us to our desired outcomes. Hope is nurtured through trusted social connections.
Learning Intentions:
• Participants will reflect on the relationship between resilience and hope.
• They will be encouraged to reflect on and set their individual goals
• Participants will recognise that hope is a product of positive school cultures that recognise the critical importance of warm, supportive relationships.
